Developers

Help us solve Los Angeles’s transportation challenges.

From holding our first developer conference to hosting code in GitHub, LADOT is taking an open approach to collaboration and making the civic technology community part of our process. We’re looking for new ways to work together and to make it easy for you to contribute to our code-based projects, helping make the City’s digital tools better for all of us.

Currently, LADOT is looking for feedback on the draft versions of our Mobility Data Specification (MDS) and we want your input! Comments can be made by making an Github Issue, while suggested changes can be made using a pull request.

Mobility Data Specification

Government Agencies

An open source approach.

A key goal of LADOT’s Transportation Technology Strategy is to share tools and learn from the discoveries of other cities and agencies.

One of these key collaborative efforts is MDS, an open source project that involves contributions from cities, agencies, and mobility service providers. The list of City contributors is constantly growing and includes the City of Santa Monica, the City of Austin, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), and the Seattle Department of Transportation.

The more Cities exchange technology insights and cooperatively approach transportation issues, the more safe, sustainable, accessible, and equitable our cities will be. Contact us to learn more about how to contribute to MDS.

Mobility Service Providers

Partnering to create great experiences.

On the heels of an exciting explosion of dockless, on-demand mobility products and services, LADOT now has a Dockless On-Demand Personal Mobility Permit Program.

Inspired by the GTFS and GBFS data specifications, LADOT also introduced MDS to serve as digital interface between the City and Mobility Service Providers. A data standard and API specification, MDS enables LADOT to actively manage service levels and better understand the implications of new technology deployments on our citizens, helping us partner with you on better overall mobility experience.
